Exporting Pro Media Files

Learn how to export Pro Media files to various formats.

In this how-to, you will learn how to export your Pro Media files from Sequencer to Apple ProRes and Avid DNx Encoder.

As of 4.23, embedded audio is not working properly. To export audio, you need to export an additional .wav file with just audio.

Export to Apple ProRes

  1. In Sequencer, select the clapperboard icon to open Render Movie Settings .

  2. Select Apple ProRes Encoder (mov) as the Image Output Format .

  3. Choose the appropriate Frame Rate, Resolution, and Audio Output.

  4. Set the following Apple ProRes Settings:

    • Encoding Format : 4444

    • Supported Color Space : HD Rec. 709

    • Scan Type (Progressive or Interlaced) : Progressive encoding mode

    • Pixel Aspect Ratio : HD 1:1

    • Number of Encoding Threads : 1

    • Embed Timecode Track : Optional. Default is to leave unchecked.

Supported Frame Rates and Resolutions

The supported export Frame Rates are: 12, 15, 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 48, 50, 59.94, 60, 100, 120, 240, Custom.

The supported export Resolutions are:

  • 320x240 (4:3)

  • 640x480 (4:3)

  • 640x360 (16:9)

  • 1280x720 (16:9)

  • 1920x1080 (16:9)

  • 3840x2160 (16:9)

Exporting to Avid DNx

  1. In Sequencer, select the clapperboard icon to open Render Movie Settings .

  2. Select Avid DNx Encoder (mxf) as the Image Output Format .

  3. Choose the appropriate Frame Rate, Resolution, and Audio Output.

  4. Set the following Avid DNx Settings:

    • Uncompressed : Yes (checked box)

    • Number of Encoding Threads : 4

Supported Frame Rates, Resolutions, and other Settings

The supported export Frame Rates are: 12, 15, 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 48, 50, 59.94, 60, 100, 120, 240, Custom.

The supported export Resolutions are:

  • 320x240 (4:3)

  • 640x480 (4:3)

  • 640x360 (16:9)

  • 1280x720 (16:9)

  • 1920x1080 (16:9)

  • 3840x2160 (16:9)

The supported Color Space is Rec 709 Gamma 2.4 YcBCr .

The Scan Type (Progressive or Interlaced) is Progessive Only .

As of 4.24, embedded Timecodes and Alpha Channels are not supported.
