1.1 - Point Light

An overview of the Lighting example level, example 1.1: Point Light

1.1 - Point Light

This display shows a Point Light, which is the most basic type of light available in UE4. A Point Light emits light from a single point in all directions, spherically. This is most obviously seen by looking at the light's radius, which is visible when the light is selected:

In the image above, you can see a pale blue wireframe sphere that surrounds the light. This shows the radius of the light, beyond which the light will have no affect on the environment. The falloff for the light will begin at the extents of this sphere and move inward toward the light Actor's position.

Welcome to the new Unreal Engine 4 Documentation site!

We're working on lots of new features including a feedback system so you can tell us how we are doing. It's not quite ready for use in the wild yet, so head over to the Documentation Feedback forum to tell us about this page or call out any issues you are encountering in the meantime.

We'll be sure to let you know when the new system is up and running.
