Working with Actors in VR Mode

Placing Actors in the World

In VR mode, you can place Actors in the world using the Content Browser or Place Mode.

To place an Actor using the Content Browser:

  1. Aim one controller at the other to open the Quick Select menu.

  2. Aim the free controller at Content and squeeze the Trigger to open the Content Browser.

  3. Aim the controller at the asset you want to place an instance of and squeeze the Trigger to select it. In the example, we are selecting a barrel Static Mesh.

  4. Move the controller to drag it from the Content Browser into the world, releasing the trigger to place the Actor in the world at that location.

To place an Actor using Place Mode:

  1. Aim one controller at the other to open the Quick Select menu.

  2. Aim the free controller at Modes and squeeze the Trigger to open the Modes panel. Place Mode is enabled by default.

  3. In the Place Mode tab, select the type of Actor you want to add by pointing the Controller at it and squeezing the Trigger to select it. In the example, we are selecting a simple Cube.

  4. Move the controller to drag it from the Modes panel into the world, releasing the trigger to place the Actor in the world at that location.

Selecting Actors in the World

To select an Actor:

  1. Aim the controller at the Actor you want to select.

  2. Squeeze the Trigger to select the Actor.

To select multiple Actors:

  1. Aim the Controller at one of the Actors you want to select and squeeze the Trigger in halfway.

  2. Aim the other Controller at the Actors you want to add or remove from the selection one by one, squeezing the Trigger each time to add or remove them.

Freely Transforming Actors in the World

  1. Point both controllers at an Actor and squeeze both Triggers to grab onto it. The laser pointer turns green when in Freeform mode.

  2. Move the controllers apart to make the Actor larger.

  3. Move the controllers together to scale the Actor back down.

  4. Move the controllers around each other to rotate the Actor.
