In the following section, we will take a look at creating a .IPA of your UE4 project that can be installed without the need for the UE4 editor.

  1. Connect your device to your computer if it is not already connected.

  2. Open your project in Unreal Editor.

  3. In the File menu, select Package Project > iOS.

  4. In the directory dialog, select your project's directory as this is where the packaged project (.ipa file) will be located.

  5. A packaging message will appear in the bottom right corner of the editor while the game is being packaged.

  6. A message is displayed when the game is successfully installed to your device.

  7. Navigate to your [ProjectDirectory]/iOS directory and double-click on the .ipa file that was generated. iTunes will open, and your game is listed in the Apps library.

  8. In the upper-right corner of iTunes, click the device button and then select the Apps tab.

  9. Find your game in the apps list and click Install. The text should change to say Will Install.

  10. In the bottom-right corner of iTunes, click Apply or Sync to sync your game to your device.

You can now launch the app that is installed on your iOS device to test the project, and when you do, you should have something like in the following image.
