UE 5.4 recommendations for DZ Trees:

1. We recommend not to use VSM (Virtual Shadow Maps) in UE 5.4 with meshes that have Nanite enabled and that also use WPO wind effects. For some reason, FPS rate has dropped with that combination.

2. If you unplug Wind/WPO from master materials, the performance and shader complexity is just great even with VSM on. But if you want to have wind effects and Nanite, we recommend to use Shadow Maps instead of Virtual Shadow Maps in UE Project Settings.

3. There is always an option to disable Nanite with DZ Trees too. Then you are able to use VSM with wind effects and FPS performance stays great. UE 5.4 seems to generate very nice LODs automatically so don't be afraid to use them! Below is a link to documentation of LOD Generation:

Static Mesh Automatic LOD Generation

We'll also create a short and easy tutorial video on how to create LODs to one tree and then how to copy those LOD settings to other tree models with only few clicks.

With these 70 amazing palm trees that are photographed in the beautiful nature of Madeira, Spain and Canary Islands you can give realism to your game or to what ever projects you are working with. This package includes high resolution Nanite models and textures of five different palm tree species: Windmill Palm (10), Date Palm (20), Coconut Palm (20), White Barbel Palm (10) and Royal Palm (10). Because words often lie, it's good to check the screen shots and 4K videos from the links above to realize that these palm trees might just be the perfect choice for your project. Amazing look and most realistic wind behavior with good FPS rate is a combo that is hard to beat. Get yourself to our YouTube channel and see the quality yourself.

Full Nanite support:

All the trees are high-res Nanite meshes and are using Nanite by default. Everything is optimized to achieve the best performance without compromising quality.

Full Lumen support:

This product supports Lumen in all the supported engine versions mentioned in the beginning of this product page (UE 5.1 and above). Lumen can be activated in "Project Settings" => "Rendering" => "Global Illumination" => "Dynamic Global Illumination Method" => "Lumen". More information about Lumen can be found in Unreal Engine 5.0 documentation.

Efficient and highly user-friendly materials:

Master materials (2 pieces) are very easy to understand and effective. Material instances created from them allow easy customization of trees and wind effects according to your wishes. Wind effects are very cheap for PC performance, yet most realistic. Every palm leaf of this package has its' own life as you can see from the demo videos. As a new feature we have added an MPC (material parameter collection) for controlling wind power of all the trees at the same time by tweaking only one number. We have also updated our wind material functions to make it more suitable for use with palm trees and the result of this update can be seen in the videos. It's good to watch tutorials and demo videos to get an idea of all the useful features that these versatile materials offer. Of course this package has also all the other options from our previous tree packages but some options might have been used in a little different way to suite palm trees better.
